Job Description:POSITION TITLE: Practice Analyst, IG S Reports to: Practice Area Director Office: New Delhi PRODUCT, PRACTICE AND KNOWLEDGE (PPK) GROUP AT BAIN Over the past two decades, Bain has formalized Industry and Capability areas, internally known as Practices, integral to how Bain wins and delivers results to its clients. A Practice can be considered a Business Unit of Bain Company. The primary role of a Practice is to boost Bains knowledge and expertise in a particular sector or capability. Specifically, the PPK Group defines and implements their own strategy and allocates resources in order to: Co-create, shape and manage innovative perspectives and products to help the business win more projects, and to serve clients more effectively and efficiently Capture and share the best practices, knowledge, insights and experience from past Bain projects For an overview of Bains Industry and Capability Practice architecture, go to the Global Experience Center (GXC) or visit Most Practices are led by a Global Practice Leader (GPL) and three Regional Practice Leaders (RPLs), who are client-facing Partners with partial allocation to these servant-leader roles. Most Practices are led day-to-day by a dedicated Practice Manager and/or Director, with the support of a Practice team which may include Practice Consultant(s), Practice Analysts and/or Knowledge Specialist(s). PRACTICE AND ROLE SPECIFICS IG S is the largest practice area for Bain in APAC. IG S has 13 sub-verticals e.g.- Airlines, Metals, Mining, Automotive, Chemicals, Agri Business, Logistics, Utilities, Machinery, Construction and building products. The Asia Pacific Industrial Goods Services (IG S) Practice Area Analyst will help to achieve Bains IG S practice goals by providing analytical support for the practice. This includes: conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, creating or updating IP investment projects conducting research for selected Bain publications contributing to research, analysis, and codification of Bain points of view helping to identify and develop content for Internal and external meetings and collaborating with Knowledge team for rapid response to PMG/case teams as necessary. The Practice Area Analyst reports to the IG S APAC Practice Director. This is a full-time role supporting an Asia Pacific practice area. Although the analysts work will primarily be focused in APAC they will operate as part of a global IG S practice support team. The position requires solid performance on value addition, client skills, team skills, and a passion for Industrial Goods Services. Over time, the analyst is expected to develop broad knowledge of the IG S sector assume larger intellectual and team roles and demonstrate a steady upward trajectory in the depth and scope of his/her contributions. JOB DESCRIPTION The Practice Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Bains ability to deliver outstanding results for our clients. This position is a full-time role supporting the Industrial Goods practice area. Major Activities: Supporting practice strategy and operations o Support regional 3 year and annual plans for the practice worth with Practice Manager/ Director to align on the aspirations, highlight the supply and expertise gap for further action o Support leadership team meetings to share current strengths, highlight any gaps and discuss potential initiatives to address them o Support /drive regular commercial and affiliate discussion Analyze progress against targets and initiatives Delivers effective and efficient practice operations o Performs complicated analytics and derives insights to drive practice decision making could include in-depth revenue, pipeline and affiliate analysis o Drives portions of affiliate and sector calls (recruits presenters, prepares materials) Conducts complex practice area analytics o Provides research and analytical support looks for trends in analysis o Owns, updates, and maintains practice models and databases or builds new ones with minimal supervision o Structures issues and translates into actionable analysis Provides high-impact support to case and client development teams o Provides high-impact, bespoke analytical support for client development materials- effectively collaborates with the Knowledge team o Creates decks/story lines for internal clients, identifying trends/insights o Engages directly with internal clients o Recognized by customers as knowledgeable in assigned practice lane(s) Support IP efforts: o Be part of the practice lead IP efforts o Coordinate and work closely with other IP teams contributing to the analysis and effort as see fit Effectively collaborate with the KS/KA team to help deliver strong results, provide coaching as required Is a role model within practice and PPK o Takes ownership for work provides leverage o Acts as role model demonstrates at cause behaviour o Creates a supportive and collaborative team environment o Motivates direct reports builds competence capabilities of junior resources o Makes tangible contributions to practice, PPK, and Bain beyond core role o Communicates effectively o Owns his/her own professional development QUALIFICATIONS: o Bachelor of Engineering/ Science or Economics major/ or MBA degree from a premier college with strong academic credentials o 4+ years of experience in a professional services firm environment with exposure to consulting or strategic planning o Experience in the Industrial Goods and Services industry o Passion for business issues intellectual curiosity and thirst for learning o Strong problem solving and analytical abilities o Strong command over excel functionalities and comfort with modelling in excel o Results focused o Ability to self-motivate and work semi-autonomously o Excellent written and verbal communication skills o Strong presentation skills ability to communicate with senior business executives o Superior customer service attitude and ability to contribute on a team o Knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Power Point, Word
